Vision
This renovation completed on a small home on the Northern Shores of Lake Erie in 2013 brought traditional charm to the cozy house. Create a space that enhanced views of the surrounding area and made a statement on the property.
Design
The home’s footprint was significantly altered by three small additions on the corners, creating more space for the master bedroom, dining area and foyer. The roof was reconstructed to provide a proper covered entry and suit the traditional style of the home. New James Hardie siding reinvigorated the look of the exterior, while the interior was updated with new stairs, kitchen, and porcelain tile flooring with in-floor heating. Additional windows now offers more lake view for the home while providing increased energy efficiency.
Key Challenges
As with many lakefront homes, we worked with the municipality a great deal to gain a needed minor variance, septic inspection and system update. Custom craftsmanship was especially important here to blend in the changes to the home and make the whole home feel cohesive. Special attention was given here to roof framing and interior and exterior finishing.
