Every so often, a project comes along that perfectly blends craftsmanship and pure enjoyment. This cigar lounge was exactly that—a space designed not just for aesthetics, but to transport you to a relaxing retreat the moment you walk through the door. The goal from day one was clear: create a luxurious indoor space where good company, good cigars, and good design all live in the same room.
The Design: Masculine Mood
The goal behind this lounge was to create a room that sets the tone before you even cross the threshold. Through a Lutron Caseta smart lighting system, the homeowner can adjust dimming levels, pre-set lighting scenes, and cultivate atmosphere with a single tap. Whether the room is set for conversation, a quiet evening, or a cigar shared with friends, the lighting adapts instantly.
This emphasis on ambiance drives the entire design. Every feature works together to make the space feel comfortable, refined, and distinctly personal.
The Bar: Walnut Craftsmanship with Character

One of the lounge’s defining features is the 12-foot walnut bar top. The walnut’s natural grain is highlighted with brass bow-tie inlays by InGrain Concepts.
Behind the bar, understated black granite offers function without competing visually. The walnut-stained back bar cabinetry, complete with backlighting and an antique mirror behind the TV, ties the entire bar space together.
Custom Cabinetry & Humidor: Cohesive Material Integration
Because this room is designed around cigar enjoyment, the humidor couldn’t be an afterthought. Cedar Ridge produced a custom humidor that matches the cabinetry and bar in species and tone, allowing it to blend seamlessly with the built-ins.
This integration keeps the room visually unified while giving the homeowner a functional, climate-controlled space to store the finest cigars.
The Hearth: Detailed Craftsmanship
A cigar lounge needs atmosphere, and nothing delivers like a crackling fire. The wood-burning fireplace anchors the room with both heat and ambiance. Its manual wood-feeding design adds a rugged, intentional ritual to the space.
Behind it, meticulous brickwork by Overbeeke Masonry creates texture and warmth. The arched hearth also perfectly aligns with the curve of the fireplace itself.
Feature Wall & Ceiling: Textural Interest
Because the lounge is long and narrow, the design team used architecture to shape the room. A continuous shou sugi ban cedar feature wall and ceiling by DK Woodworks in Dunnville adds dramatic texture while visually elongating the space.
This feature also became an opportunity for lighting. Young Electric installed linear LED strips tucked into the woodwork, creating soft glow lines that enhance depth and atmosphere without overwhelming the room.
Furniture & Finishes: Top Shelf Only
No cigar lounge is complete without great seating, and for our clients, we only suggest the best. Boss Leather of Canada created fully custom chairs and bar stools in rich leather, accented with “.44 Magnum” nailheads for enhanced masculine style.
A custom walnut coffee table, with a steel base, adds another personal layer. The walnut top was milled from a tree cut in 2016 for one of Tucker Homes’ earlier builds. This connection brings history and a personal story of ours into the room.
Recreation & Personal Touches: Designed Around the Homeowner
Because the homeowner is an avid golfer and a member at Lookout Point Country Club, the lounge includes a putting green for practice and friendly competition. Additionally, a garage door feature opens on fair-weather days to bring in fresh air and natural light, perfect for casual putting or enjoying a cigar with the breeze rolling in. These custom home features are the perfect example of how we design everything with the owner in mind first.
Ventilation: Quiet, Effective Smoke Control
A great cigar lounge needs proper ventilation, and this one is equipped with a quiet exhaust system installed by Marty’s Heating & Air Conditioning. With one switch, smoke is drawn outdoors without disrupting conversation or atmosphere inside.
